Playabet recently launched their new app with the claim that it is the Number 1 Sports Betting application in South Africa. So to test the claims we put the application through it’s paces for our Playabets App review.

The first thing we noticed is that the Playabets App is not available on the Google Play store. Now this is no faults of Playabets as we know from experience that gambling apps and the Google Play store are not the best friends. Fortunately Playabets have linked the APK (Install file) on their website. Installing the app is simple enough and the icon looks rather good on our screens. IOS users should have no trouble finding the app on the Apple store and we assume installation was as seamless as Android.

Once you’ve opened the app the claim of the Number 1 app in South Africa gain momentum with a very slick and stylish home screen. The banners are good looking and the overall green theme is not overpowering.

We’re sure the question you’re asking is ‘Enough about the aesthetics, is the app itself any good?’
Well to answer honestly we certainly think so. The app is easy to navigate, register and bet on. There is also a nifty feature where you can add your favourite leagues to a favourites page, so you can find everything you want to bet on all in one click. Very clever. The menu section is also a joy to navigate with everything you need right in one place :

We had no trouble finding a market we liked, selecting it, entering a wager and placing the bet. Everything works as you’d expect it to, no crashes, bugs or slowdowns were experienced by us so we really have little to nothing to complain about. Perhaps we’d like to have seen a more accessible help section but that mostly comes down to personal opinion.

Overall Experience:

Now in all honestly most of what we’ve covered is not groundbreaking in the app sense of the word. It’s pretty standard fare for a betting app but the kicker is the Playabets App has very few rivals in South Africa. They’re one of the few that have a dedicated app that does not run off your devices web browser and you have to commend them for that.Overall it’s basically the entire Playabets site all compressed into one easy to use application. We might even prefer the app to the desktop site but as they say, horses for courses.

Overall Rating : 9/10

Here’s a great video from Playabets showing off the app.
